Well since I married to Indian man who loves sweet very much, I ended up tasting some of Indian sweet too. Honestly I don’t really like sweet but because of him I started to have some favorites of sweet. So here is maysore pak, Indian snack you have to try as soon as you find Indian store wherever you are.

Maysore pak has some types

I just knew that maysore pak has some types which are the hard one and the soft one. The hard one looks like honeycomb and the soft one just like regular soft cake. In this post I’m gonna share you the soft one.

Soft Maysore Pak

For some people (including me) soft maysore pak is sweeter than the hard one, but both of them are full of ghee which is Indian clarify butter. This stuff is a good everyone. It has its own aroma which will call your mouth to eat it again and again.

Often found in Wedding Ceremony

Maysore pak often found in wedding ceremony as a gift to god and for entertain the guest who come to the wedding ceremony. It’s not only maysore pak but still other kind of sweet like ladoo, halwa and so on. By the time you realize you are already full by the sweet.

The taste

Soft Maysore Pak

Maysore pak made from sugar, ghee and gram flour. Because of that once you eat it, it will melt on you tongue and makes you say “hmmm”. Especially for you who has sweet tooth like my husband, this is like your gold. I’m sure you will like it.

There are a lot of sweet from India that endless. You will always find sweet everywhere and every time. Indian will never get bored to sweet dishes. I remember one day my husband came to Indonesia and the only thing he missed was the sweet. I serve him a lot of sweet dishes but there’s nothing close with his definition of sweet. After I knew the sweet he means is like this, I know now why he did’t get what he wanted.

How about you guys? Do you ever taste maysore pak? What do you think about it? Or do you have other kind of sweet? Let me know in the comment section below. xoxo

Tau suan is a dessert that made from peeled mung bean, that’s why it is yellow. The process to make this dish is not so hard but the result will be comforting your mouth. This dessert is served with some crunchy topping. The topping used deep-fried bread makes this dessert even more delicious.

Cheap yet Appetizing

Most of the seller will sell tau suan in the morning and afternoon but you can also make it at home, I will post the recipe for this in the next post. Commonly tau suan sold by Chinese. This dish is cheap yet can make you fill full. Some people have it in the morning as their breakfast some people also have it as their dessert in the afternoon before dinner. There is no restriction whenever you want it, you have it. In West Kalimantan, Indonesia most of the seller will sell it around IDR 6000 – IDR 12.000 (around $0,60 – $1). It will again depend on your taste bud and your budget.

Full Portion just for you

Tu suan is so gooey and thick, I prefer to eat it while it’s warm and eating this in the morning as breakfast make me full until I get my lunch. I think that’s because of the sweetness and the mung bean that basically good for people who wanna lose some weight. I used to buy tau suan in jl. Gajah mada, Pontianak. The seller is so humble and when you ask him to give more topping he will give you as much as you want. I used to add the topping tho. In the morning people buy this after they have their workout or after riding their bicycle.

When it comes to food there’s nothing wrong to eat it whenever you want just remember about the portion, everything has to be in moderation.

So are you hungry now? Go get some tau suan, the comfort sweet gooey dessert for your hungry stomach.

Indonesia is a country with diversity. There are more than 1000 kind of tribes live in Indonesia and because of that Indonesia has a lot of different kind of food and snack. In this post I share you one of the snack from Sumedang, West Java, Indonesia. Sumedang Tofu the crispy outside yet soft inside. It is best to eat when its hot.

Sumedang tofu, or Indonesian used to call it by “tahu sumedang” is not as regular tofu you eat that dense and firm, this kind of tofu has half empty or sometime all empty inside. This kind of tofu for some Indonesian called by “pong” means empty inside. Even though the tofu is not as dense as regular one but the taste of it can be creamier than the regular one. I don’t know how do they make it.

As you can see the inside of this tofu is not as dense as regular tofu and that makes it even juicier. Sumedang tofu has savory taste, it makes us want to eat more and more till we forget how much we ate. Some people like to eat it with rice cake or we call it by lontong, some people like to eat just as it is, some people also like to chew a chili while eating the Sumedang tofu, all depend on your taste.

Don’t worry about the price, you can eat it until you full without making your wallet dry. Some seller will sell it as 1 tofu for idr 1000 (around $0.10) and some seller sell it as 1 portion. The price might be varied depend on the seller. These days Sumedang tofu is not only in Sumedang, you can also find it in other places like Kalimantan, Jakarta etc. Most of the seller are from Sumedang, West Java.

Sumedang tofu is deep-fried snack, so you have to know it is not as healthy as avocado. After all, make sure you don’t eat it too much because everything should be in moderation but if you eat too much just consider it as a cheating day.

So do you get tempted to try it?
